Getting ready for Halloween was a real..... nightmare!
Everybody was eager to have their mask ready. They worked very hard.
But the thing was that they all wanted their masks ready for the parade the next day! At that point we tried to do our best and arrived provided with hairdryers and tons 'n tons of patience. Actually, as usual.
Making the masks let our participants overcome all kinds of boundaries for imagination and at the same time provided them a way to understand how important recycling is.
The technique used this time was very simple - a choice determined mainly by the short time available: we blew ballons as large as we wanted the mask to be big. As you would expect in a no limits situation, some of the masks came out enormous.
Halloween over, we focused the last sessions of the workshop on creating decorative flowers for Christmas and for other celebratory events.
The material recycled for our blossoms were used plastic bottles that our participants collected and brought to the workshop.
To be honest, they made very original pieces, inspired mostly by natural patterns. Lots of variety in their creations and yet an interesting collaboration among people of different nationalities: things can be changed, and we can change things.
